WMS Drama Department will be holding auditions for next year's Advanced Drama and Musical Theater class. Vocal/Acting auditions will be held on March 7th and Dance auditions will be held on March 8th. Please come and pick up an audition packet from Ms. Jennings.
Holy cow. What great auditions! First, let me thank you for being so prepared for these performances. It is a real treat for me to be your teacher this year and to work with such dedicated students.
Please remember what this experience is about. We are here as a collaborative effort, to put together this production as a group of people who truly enjoy what they are doing. Theater makes us better people because it gives us a way to explore and understand the world and its peoples. Don't forget that. I KNOW how hard it is to not get the part that you want. I wish I could have 5 different casts, but I am one person, and we are making the best "cake" with this production that we can. I expect that all of you continue to be a supportive and positive force for good in our cast. Please make sure you follow the instructions for the cast list. Some of you may not because you'll want to skip all the way down to the end to find the cast list. :) We still like you, but we need you to read the instructions too. :) 1)Make sure that you send Ms. Jennings an email at [email protected] to accept your role in this show. Please put "Parent of" in the subject line so it makes it through our spam filter. 2)We will be having a pancake breakfast next week at our first rehearsal. Please come at 7:45 on Tuesday morning and I'll make you breakfast before class starts. :) 3) PLEASE go through your script and write out, in your own words, what EVERY line means. I realize it's going to be a lot of work, but our show will not be good for anyone if you don't know what anyone is saying onstage. This includes the ensemble members! You can't react appropriately to what is happening if you don't know what they're saying. You should come with the first half of the script done (up to page 14) no later than Thursday. The rest of the script should be finished before I leave for Cedar City (Oct. 6). 4) Start working on memorization NOW. Memorize breaths too. Remember you breathe on all the punctuation marks. :) 5) And finally. Since you've read all the instructions, you'll know you need a password to get to the cast list. :) That password is WCDrama. Click on the Productions and Performances->Fall Shows->Much Ado About Nothing->Cast List. :) And now for the cast list........ Drum Roll Please..... Click HERE for the Much Ado About Nothing Cast List. Please look at the following pages for the characters. If you are interested in playing one of these parts, please practice this dialogue AND any blocking you'd like to use in the scene over the weekend.
I will be looking at how comfortable you feel in those parts as well as your interaction with the other characters in the scene. For example: Catherine and Charlie need to have some sort of chemistry, David and Owen need to interact like they've known each other for years, etc. David and Owen: 46-47 Charlie and Ellard: 39-40 Catherine and Charlie: 41-42 David and Catherine: 23-24 Betty and Froggy: 15-18 Charlie and Owen: 57-58 Betty and Ellard: 35-36 Break a leg everyone! |
